Current Paper Quilling Project
Tea Cup & Saucer

Day 1
July 20, 2006

I started this quilling project with the Saucer mainly
because I wasn't sure what the design was going
to be and thought the Saucer would be easier to begin with.

I picked out the colors I wanted to use
  • Lake City - White
  • Lake City - Bright White
  • Paplin - Blue Ice
  • Paplin - Olive Green
and then just started with a 24" tight roll working
in a circular motion around the center designing as I went.

Day 2
July 21, 2006

I didn't get very much quilling completed yesterday,
but I was able to finish the saucer.

I then made some olive green shaped teardrops to place on the
edge of the saucer but wasn't satisfied with the border effect.
I may go back later and add some kind of border to it.  If I ever
make another Teacup & Saucer I think I will choose fewer colors.

I also started the teacup but only had time to do the bottom.

Day 3
July 28, 2006

I put the Teacup & Saucer project aside for a week to complete some
cards and a smaller framed cross.
Yesterday was the first day back working on the Teacup.  This is my
first attempt at making a teacup and I wasn't sure whether to use the inside
or outside; or to work with the cup up or down.  After getting some
advice from my quilling friends I decided to work on the outside with the
bottom side up.  I had some difficulty starting the teacup with the
base on, so I decided to do the sides first and then attach it to the base.
I want to make sure the cup would fit tightly onto the base, so the first round
was made with white triangles and then I continued with the same pattern used
on the plate but leaving the portion where the handle will attach until later.

Day 4
July 29, 2006

Well I had an accident yesterday - I dropped and broke the teacup.
But not to worry. I have three other of these cups packed away in the basement.
So until I find one of the other cups, this project is temporarily on hold

Day 5
July 31, 2006

I have more bad news about this project.    I found one of the other cups, but
I've somehow misplaced the completed quilled saucer.   I had put it away to keep it safe
but now I can't remember where I put it.   I searched until after midnight and no trace of it

Day 6
August 1, 2006

Still no sign of the saucer.   I'm going to wait a couple of weeks
and if I still can't find the saucer I'll have to remake it.
So for now, this project is on hold indefinately!!!
